LEO Gives
To us, it’s really quite clear. If you live, work and play in a city, you also must give.
We’re proud to boast that our company annually donates a percentage of our gross profits in charitable contributions, discounted and in-kind/pro-bono hours for organizations like the Jay Uiberall Foundation (JUF), Sculpture Fields at Montague Park (Chattanooga), ALSAC St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
We partnered with Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project when it came to Memphis for a “build week”. Rolling up our sleeves and pitching in, we produced two important events for Habitat that week: The Blue Prints & Blue Jeans Women’s Luncheon & Hard Hat Tour and the SheetRock ‘n’ Roll Fundraising Dinner Evening. We even tried our hands at construction and home building—a moving experience for all.
Our own Kent Underwood serves on the board for Sculpture Fields at Montague Park. LEO is so inspired by what they do that we funded the shipment of an important work from New York to Chattanooga so that it could be added to the amazing collection of art that citizens and visitors to the area enjoy daily.
Through our “LEO Heroes” corporate challenge team at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, LEO runners unite with a purpose and have raised more than $60,000 in three years. In 2018, LEO was a Top Ten Corporate Challenge Team and “Spirit of St. Jude” award winner for its fundraising and philanthropic spirit during the race.
LEO is a founding partner and annual sponsor of the Jay Uiberall Foundation, a philanthropy formed in 2011 after the tragic death of one of our beloved vendors. JUF supplies over $90,000 annually in services to the restaurant and hospitality industry, including flu shots for uninsured restaurant employees, a yearly scholarship to the University of Memphis Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality & Resort Management, and funding of Knowledge Quest, a full-service culinary/prep kitchen where teens learn to grow and cook food as a trade. In addition to financial donations, LEO contributes more than 250 hours annually to JUF planning and programs.
