OLD DOMINICK DISTILLERY SHIFTS TO HAND SANITIZER PRODUCTION

From whiskey to wellness, Old Dominick packs more than 10,000 bottles of hand sanitizer.

Memphis’ Old Dominick Distillery is known for its Honeybell and Memphis Vodkas, as well as its Huling Station Bourbon Whiskey and its Memphis Toddy. Its downtown distillery is beloved for its rooftop views, entertaining tours and great event space.

But today it is brewing up a different concoction: hand sanitizer. Old Dominick joins many distillers nationwide in making the hard-to-find product. It is partnering with the Shelby County Commission to produce 10,000 units of hand sanitizer; these will be distributed to lower-income households and to the unsheltered in Memphis.

According to Alex Castle, master distiller and senior vice president at Old Dominick, they wanted to help the Memphis community any way they can. “There is a supply chain issue in the hand sanitizer industry right now,” said Castle in an article in The Commercial Appeal. “It is mostly due to the availability of high proof ethanol–something we make daily and even have extra on hand.”

Well done, Old Dominick, and we look forward to raising a glass with you in the near future!
